SAT/ACT preparation

COURSE OVERVIEW

The course will combine lessons, lectures, workshops and visits to enable students to thoroughly prepare thieir US College applications and aim for the Ivy League.  Lessons will develop each of the four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing in the context of TOEFL exam.  Opportunities to develop knowledge of vocabulary and grammar will also be incorporated.  There will be a focus on the SAT exam and students will have the opportunity to analize typical questions and practice active listening and essay writing skills.  Lectures will cover areas to support students in choosing the correct university path including financial planning and scholarships.  Workshops are designed to help participants develop their confidence and personal skills and take a targeted approached to completing applications.  The program will also include visits to Harvard University and the Historic Freedom Trail.  

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

You will:

  • Learn the strategies needed to get competitive score TOEFL and SAT.
  • Practice your English language abilities to compete with native applicants to top US universities.
  • Learn how to optimize your application including resume bulding and essay writing skills.
  • Speak directly with university admissions counsellors.
  • Develop lifelong relationships with people from all over the world.
  • Learn about life at a university, and what it takes to be successful on campus.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS

One day full excursion per week in included.  Destinations may include Boston, New York and Six Flags Theme Park.  Evening activities are varied and fun and may include discos, talent shows and international evenings.

On the Ivy League Program, you will gain insight into what it takes to progress to a world-ranked university in the US.  You will prepare for SAT and ACT, the US university entrance exams, and enjoy visits to colleges in the Boston area such as MIT and Harvard giving you the ultimate Ivy League experience.
