Getting competitive… SPIRIT WEEK 2018 at CATS Boston

Trips and activities 21 March 2018

Spirit Week is a school community event, involving a week of competitive challenges between CATS Academy Boston houses – Purple House, Black House, Gold House, and Silver House.

Throughout the academic year, students participate in wide range of extracurricular activities and earn points for their respective houses. Spirit Week is a four-day slot in the extracurricular calendar where students devote their time to compete for the annual house championship. It is a great opportunity for students to have collective fun, foster community spirit and gain the most house points!

Examples of the 2018 Spirit Week challenges include – bridge building competitions, daily fancy dress challenges, quizzes, sports events and a talent contest.

Day 1: The Olympic-themed Opening Ceremony

Day 2: Sports Day

Day 3: Inter-house Quiz

Day 4: Spirit Week Finale – Talent Show & Closing Ceremony

One of our students Anastasia Dvoryanchikova who photographed the days' events said:

“Spirit Week brings students together. You get to know people better by competing as a whole house in challenges that are not related to academic subjects... it's more about community, which is important. It is another event at CATS which brings multiple nationalities together, this time through team spirit and wanting to win!"

Further comments from our students:

“Spirit Week is the most competitive week of the term. All students come together to win for their house and have as much fun as possible. The week is full of laughs and a great time."

“It was a great experience! The activities were fun and competitive. We should definitely keep this every year!"

“Spirit Week is a wonderful event that I became part of this year. Throughout the activities, I saw how fast the students were bonding and how strong the connections grew between different cultures."

This year Gold House stole the winner's title. The date will be embossed on their house flag and they will hold the Spirit Week trophy until the competition next year.

Well done GOLD HOUSE!
