School Art Fair - A success for our students and the Braintree community
Trips and activities
19 April 2018
The '4 Schools, 1 Town' Art Show was organized by our very own Kent Archer (teacher of Fine Art) and took place at Braintree Arts Center on Thursday evening, April 12.
Kent Archer organized an art show for the local community that included students from all four Braintree high schools. The schools involved, included, Archbishop Williams High School, Braintree High School, CATS Academy, and Thayer Academy. Each school submitted 40 pieces and of the 160 submitted pieces, only 70 were accepted. CATS Academy had 20 pieces accepted and seven of those works received awards, which were chosen by a panel of three judges.
Ruobing's 'Purple Mine' (Best Of Show)
CATS student Ruobing won the top award, Best Of Show, with 'Purple Mine'. And further congratulations go to another of our students Hoang Le, who won third place with the piece 'Tarot Cards'.
Kent Archer commented on the overall success of the show:
“This event gave our art students an opportunity to experience the traditional structure of an art show and it was a wonderful community-builder. All of the students should be extremely proud of the work they created. Thank you to the teachers, the students, and the Braintree Community Art Center for helping make the show a possibility."
The mayor of Braintree and his wife (Joseph and Barbara Sullivan) attended the event and music was provided and performed by CATS students.
