Benefits of Participating in a Summer Program

Benefits of attending summer programs

Summer is the season of opportunity; it’s important for ambitious students to make the most of their valuable time! For those aspiring to gain acceptance to top-ranked universities in the United States, staying engaged and active is key. Participating in pre-college summer programs, college courses, internships, volunteering, research, or part-time employment can significantly enhance an application.

Involvement in extracurricular activities demonstrates an applicant’s commitment to academic study, self-development, leadership, and ability to balance multiple responsibilities – qualities that universities seek in well-rounded candidates. These experiences contribute to a holistic review of a student’s college or university application, showcasing not just academic strengths, but also personal growth and unique interests.

Summer programs are easily accessible, there are residential, hybrid, and remote options. For international students, many universities in the United States offer various remote options, making it easier than ever to take advantage of the opportunities from home.

Whether it’s choosing to explore new interests or deepening existing passions, every experience counts and will not go unnoticed!  Some summer programs, particularly selective programs, often require a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and transcripts. These components showcase the students’ strengths and passions when reviewing applications for more competitive courses.

Our highly experienced CATS Academy College Counselors and members of the teaching faculty can recommend programs to students that best fit their university and college aspirations.
