Introducing Dr. Michael Lehan: new Head of School at CATS Academy Boston

CATS Academy Boston is excited to welcome Dr. Michael Lehan as the new Head of School, effective immediately.

Dr. Lehan brings a distinguished background in educational leadership. He began his career in the Osseo Area Schools of Minnesota, rising from Dean of Students and Assistant Principal to Principal of Osseo Senior High School. Under his leadership, the school gained national recognition, consistently earning a spot on U.S. News & World Report’s list of the nation’s ‘Best High Schools’ throughout his tenure. He was named Principal of the Year by the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals.

He concluded his time at Osseo as Assistant Superintendent, where he oversaw critical district-wide functions including PK–12 finance, teaching and learning, student services, family and community engagement, and student conduct and accountability. His leadership and system-wide perspective significantly advanced the district’s mission and impact.

He later served as Senior Vice President and Head of School at IMG Academy, where he launched transformational initiatives to enhance student opportunity and real-world readiness. 

Most recently, he oversaw 10 campuses across Texas and Colorado with Fusion Education Group, championing innovation, culture, and personalized learning.

Beyond education, Dr. Lehan spent six seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns. His athletic experience deeply informs his leadership approach—grounded in teamwork, resilience, and shared purpose. 

He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Learning and is committed to fostering a school culture centered on growth, innovation, and student success.
