Hockey at CATS Academy Boston

CATS Academy Boston has recently introduced a new Prep Hockey team to offer male students the opportunity to compete against other schools in New England, from August through to February.

Students in Grades 8 to 12 will be able to tryout for our new Prep Hockey team at the start of each academic year. To be considered for the team, students must already know how to play hockey.

The Prep Team will compete in the premier youth split season league in the country, the Eastern Hockey Federation. It will play approximately 45-60 games per season, as well as possible tournaments and playoffs.

Training & Skills Sessions

Players will train together as a team twice a week at Canton Ice Rink, guided by our highly experienced coaching staff. This training is supported by a skills session and multiple weight room sessions each week.

The weekly Skills Sessions are run in the Fall by Paul Vincent Hockey. Paul is the skating coach for NHL Florida Panthers and his staff. Sessions will focus on power skating, edge work and hand skills.

In the Winter, the Skills Sessions will be run by Grame Townsend, an NHL skating instructor, as well as our own in-house American Hockey Academy skills staff who will work on offensive and defensive skills.

Equipment & Additional Fees

Students who are successful in joining the Prep team need to supply their own helmets, sticks, and skates.

There will also be additional fees to pay for uniform and for competition entry:

  • $200 – Uniform (includes jersey, pant shell, gloves & socks)
  • $3,500 for the U18 AAA competition
